My daughter's best friend ran away to my house because his father was beating him. What do I do?

My daughter's best friend showed up at my doorstep an hour ago told me his father was beating him and kicking him and he told me he needed a place to stay. I let him sleep on the couch, but I do not know that he can do in the future. Do I send him back home? I know he has no family he can stay with because I looked into that. I do not think I can keep him here and his mother's side of the family all live in France (His mother herself is dead) any ideas?
