How does LA compare to NYC?

I live in NYC and am contemplating a move to Cali. Are there any previous New Yorkers there that can tell me what they like and dislike about LA compared to NYC? The culture and attitudes of the people and how the cities attractions and venues stack up against good ol' NYC? Thank You-this would be much appreciated!
